Tympanuchus is a small genus of birds in the grouse family. They are commonly referred to as prairie chickens. The genus contains three species: \n* Sharp-tailed grouse, Tympanuchus phasianellus \n* Greater prairie-chicken, Tympanuchus cupido \n* Heath hen (Tympanuchus cupido cupido) \n* Attwater's prairie chicken (Tympanuchus cupido attwateri) \n* Tympanuchus cupido pinnatus \n* Lesser prairie-chicken, Tympanuchus pallidicinctus The two prairie-chickens are particularly closely related and look extremely similar.
