Ammodramus is a genus of birds in the family Emberizidae, in the group known as American sparrows. Birds of this genus are known commonly as grassland sparrows. The name Ammodramus is from the Latin for "sand runner". These birds live in grassland and marsh habitat. Some Ammodramus are monogamous and both parents care for the young.
