South Siberian forest steppe

WWF Abstract

Situated in a group of large depressions across southern central Russia, the South Siberian Forested Steppe is marked by diverse ecosystems and a distinct landscape. Here, low undulating forested mountains, shaped by water erosion and cut by numerous rivers and streams, divide these grassy depressions. This mosaic of forests and grasslands contains a high diversity of plant species--and several important animal species as well.
