Agelaius is a genus of blackbirds in the New World family Icteridae. Established by Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot in 1816, it contains five species: \n* Red-winged blackbird, Agelaius phoeniceus \n* Red-shouldered blackbird, Agelaius assimilis \n* Tricolored blackbird, Agelaius tricolor \n* Tawny-shouldered blackbird, Agelaius humeralis \n* Yellow-shouldered blackbird, Agelaius xanthomus The name Agelaius comes from the Greek agelaios, meaning "gregarious".
